RockAuto Returns

I bought $70 worth of headlights to make my little Mazda B driveable again after a 16 year old pulled out in front of me.

I installed them just yesterday and got a call from the insurance saying they're calling it a total loss (and giving me 5x what I paid for the truck ).

I am then wondering, how good is RockAuto returns? They allowed me to print a label, even saying I installed them. I'm just wondering if I'll get my $70 back.
I had to mark-up a plastic piece with some needle nose to get it to fit in the bent facia. So, one headlight has some slight witness install damage.
I'm making some serious money from this accident, but I'm thrifty and $70 is $70. What bothers me is I just installed them!!

IM (NS)HO you've got a few choices.

- Send them back -- they will pay you or not. Don't think that thy would hold that against you .
-Put 'em on Craigslist -- who knows?
- Trash/Goodwill whatever.
I'm with you on cheap ( ask my kids), but I don't think you'll find out without sending them back.

I don't wanna be a dream killer but in the past few years I've heard nothing encouraging concerning RA's return/refund policy, especially since they went to all email and form completing "customer service".

Sad fact is once you submit your purchased items back to them you're at their whim or "mercy". I did once upon a time buy a very, very few items from RA but that stopped probably 5 years or so ago, perhaps longer. I can usually find what I need/want locally OR from a much better supplier with more reasonable and easily understood return/refund policies OR the option to talk with a live person if an issue arises.

Good luck with your situation!

And yet those who post stories of nightmarish experiences seems to defy that claim ^^^^. Don't worry though---many other retailers who're almost exclusively on line vendors only have the same issues and few ways to address issues or financial losses their policies cause.

Caveat emptor I say.

If this is a 30 day "no questions asked" return policy, that would be very nice. Not sure if they could take the hit though.
I buy a lot of parts from RA and they've only been wrong once.
FYI...1999 Mazda B rear brake pads are too small. Autozone pulled up the correct ones right away.

One MAJOR COMPLAINT--I didn't get a magnet to add to my collection in my latest shipment!

Most of our shipping locations include magnets but some drop-ships and smaller warehouses do not. Make sure to check the box flaps and packing material as well.

Thank You!

Thanks, RockAuto. I was mainly kidding.
Serious note--I told you guys I installed my part and yet I was still authorized to return...I haven't shipped the part yet. Will it be auto rejected? Then I won't have my money OR the part I paid for!

I have an update!

RockAuto has issued my refund!!
I am still not over the missing magnet. It may take me a while to fully overcome the grief that caused me. However, I appreciate the good customer service.

I'd attempt to return the pieces which are not damaged, and just eat the loss on the one which got marred/gouged.
