Used these tires for years but got away from them when my last set could never be balanced. I also hated how they would grab and throw rocks for miles after getting back on pavement.
The cooper at3 xlt look pretty nice and seem to get good reviews anyone have any luck with them?
Friend of mine had them on a Tacoma, absolutely dangerous in the winter. So bad that he was stuck trying to get to his jobsite one winter and drove 60+ miles to the tire store to replace them with Duratracs that day, never bought another set of coopers... I drove that truck on those tires, they were terrible. Seems a lot of people like them but I wouldn't recommend them.
Put a set of these on my last superduty loved everything about them except how much weight it took to balance them..that being said you guys like anything else better that look as good as the K02?
I prefer a highway tread as I tow and haul heavy. However, my last truck had 16” wheels and the K02’s were one of the few tires I could find in LI 129. They were great. I would purchase again.
I switched my trucks to Cooper ST Maxx
after two decades of using the original BFG KO. I like the ST Maxx for my use. I was skeptical about the new BFG KO2 but after we switched to the BFG KO2 on our work trucks I was humbled and found the KO2 performed well and did what BFG said. BFG reduced the KO2 tread depth and once the tread wear gets to the bottom of the side scoops, the soft dirt & snow traction diminishes a lot. I found the KO2 is a good tire but I still like the ST maxx a little better than KO2.
Use to be a die hard BFG A/T and M/T fan. Don’t like the look of the current BFG M/T and had a balancing issues and a sidewall puncher on a previous generation set. I’ve had good luck with a couple of sets Toyo M/Ts and heard the Toyo R/Ts are good too.

I am comparing different width tires. On my last truck the STMaxx were an inch wider than the work truck KO2 and I could hear a faint low hum from the STMaxx a tiny bit more than the KO2. My new truck's STMaxx are two inches wider than the work truck tires and now it is a more noticeable moderate hum, and that is with side and rear windows open. With windows closed it is a low hum. I have not been able to compare equal width KO2 and STMaxx to hear the true difference.
If you drive in either rain or snow, those big blocks of rubber without siping are a nightmare. Add a hard rubber compound for mileage and it is a disaster.

Which tires are you referring to?
That is true of most of the M/T tires. The, what I call agressive A/T tires, like the STMAXX(shown above), KO2, Duratrac etc., do very good in rain, ice and snow. They do have siping though.
I had the ST Maxx and was not overly impressed. I just swapped them out while they still had a year or two left. Extremely loud on the highway from new and every rotation I felt like I needed to balance them. Went to BFG KO2 AT. Am very happy with them.

I was speaking "in general". Most MT or AT tires are inadequately siped.
I have the Cooper AT3 xlt on my current truck with 25K mikes on them. I don’t think all sizes are 3 peak snow rated, but the 275-70-18 that I have are. I live in Michigan with a place in the UP, they have been fine in the snow. About 19K of these miles are pulling a 9000lb travel trailer. Tires are quiet and wearing well. I rotate religiously.
