99sd 250 5.4 extended cab ,this just started a couple of days ago. When you start the truck this cycle of tone sounds off, 5 times and repeats itself 5 times then stops and will start over again every 30 minutes, I timed it on my 8 hr. drive home yesterday. Anybody have this happen and might know what it is? There is no code flashing on the dash.
Monsta thank you for the reply, seastbelts are used all the time. Guess no one has had this happen, I'll have to take it to the shop and have it put on the computer to see. Thanks anyways.
that is usually a indication of a air fault concern. check to see if the air bag light proves out when key is turned on. if not the air
bag module will probably have a stored fault and the bulb may burnt out.
Thanks Bradley, Could this tie into other things? Cruise control not working, ABS light illuminated, fan motor contnuing to run with key off? This all just came on last night on my way to work.
i'm not really sure about the other symptoms. the blower could be stuck relay in the battery junction box. the cruise and the abs
light could be the result of a bad brake pedal position switch. both the abd and servo use the bpp as an input.
servo connector pin 4 should light a test with the brake depressed. pin 15 rd/lg on the abs connector same thing.
Brad, The airbag light no longer illuminates when turning ignition switch on. It does illuminate when I turn the passenger airbag switch to off and remains lit. As for the ABS and CC, talked to the dealer and got a qiuick yes they could be related," Bring it on in and we'll have a look". Will check out the connector pins you mentioned. Is there a way to check for faults in the airbag module?
Pulled, inspected, and reconnected connectors for as many sensors I could find. Found nothing obvious. Scanned computer, no fault codes. Started truck to go talk to dealer and everything is working as it should. Loose connector, wire/pin, or bad connection. Don't know, but it seems to be fixed for now. Dealer suggested keeping a tube of dielectric grease handy and applying it to any connectors I may take off in the future. Corrosion and bad grounds cause of many electrical problems.
