So I’ve been running my 84 idi daily for a year now and it’s been running strong. I’ve been having some really bad air intrusion assuming it’s from the old orings, factory ftsv and just all the old parts on it that I need to replace. Yesterday was weird the truck started up just fine in the morning I let it idle for 10 mins before driving and when I got to where I needed to go the truck was off for 40 mins tops, when I went to start my truck it fired up but died assumed it was air intrusion but it would not fire up at all after that, no smoke or anything out of the exhaust. I let it sit for a few hours and tried it again and it fired up. I put a new fuel filter on it when it wasn’t wanting to fire, the old filter was full of fuel which had me confused. The truck does have a light haze of blue smoke when idling (cold) which is typical for a old street legal tractor but when it’s warmed up and I blip the throttle it white smokes like crazy it’ll lightly haze black smoke when I’m giving the ol gal potato’s but was curious if maybe it’s time for injectors or maybe the timing was retarded too much. Any ideas on the no start and white smoke?
Sounds like maybe it is the Injection Pump.
Next time it does this, pour cool (not cold) water over the pump to cool it.
If she starts, it is a worn pump.

10-4 I was driving today and it was real jumpy when I was going 50mph+ and every time I lifted off the throttle it’ll blow smoke sometimes. Even when I went full throttle up hills I didn’t gain any speed. It was also idling higher than normal and when I would goose it too pass someone it would stay idled up when I would shift sometimes.
