ZF6 gauge cluster

Im going to be doing a Cummins/ZF6 swap in my Excursion this winter. Instead of having a dead trans temp gauge, can a cluster from a ZF6 that had a volt meter in its place be swapped in?

All the ZF6 swaps out there and no ones tried this?

Since no one knew the answer apparently i decided to just give this a try. Bought a manual trans cluster off ebay. I plugged it in, turned the key on, and all the gauges went through their range of motion. And the volt gauge works! Start the truck and everything seems to be good to go. Until i drove it today. Now the engine temp gauge doesnt work. I know the sensor is working fine, since the edge reads it.

Anyone have any suggestions?
