Windshields

So got a new windshield today in my truck, this will be a common thing for me, only 3 months and 8k miles and the OEM one was done.

In the past I’ve had GM trucks will fairly flat windshields, never paid much attention to what brand the glass placed used and it didn’t seem to make a difference.

Well when I got into my F350 after getting the new windshield it was like getting into a fishbowl, all kinds of distortion in the glass around the edges.

The brand they used is called FUYAO.

What experiences have you guys had with replacement windshields for these trucks? I will order something in different next time if I have to.

I declined the recall if that's what you referring to.
head on collision has to hurt regardless of windshield being intact.
No issues with factory windshield.

On my 2014 when they did the windshield I told them I wanted a genuine Ford windshield and that’s what they installed no issues. Had buddy’s that had other than factory windshields and they where not happy.

Not the recall, my windshield was already trashed, three big spider web cracks, one directly in my line of vision.

All auto glass is not created equal.

With that being said, it’s too late now unless you want to pay for another one but, you should have gone with the OEM glass which is made by Carlite.

Just had my windshield replaced and specified OEM ford glass. That's what I got, no issues.

Recently had to get mine replaced, twice... First one non-oem. Like OP stated. Fish bowl. Got dizzy looking through it. Had them warranty it. Second one also not OEM, but no issues. Don't recall the brand.
then about 2 weeks later some ******** trucker in Wyoming going 70 through a chip seal area throws rocks all over me... 3 cracks and about a dozen dimples in the front of my new toy hauler.... Good thing the VA keeps me well medicated...

I’ve never even considered OEM to be honest. I will ask if they can get the OEM glass.

This looks cool but is obviously really expensive.

Your installer used a cheap Chinese window. The company I work for got out of that business because these pieces became commodities. A good quality brand is Pittsburgh Glass Works, or PGW. These are made in the United States in factories that have been in place for as long as 70 years.

Carlite is the standard and never settle for less. That said…..what does the national glass replacement companies most use?

After taking a hit on the bottom left corner, I just had the windshield replaced in my 2020 last week.

I learned a VALUABLE lesson with my wife’s prior truck, a 15’ Yukon Denali with a HUD.
After an aftermarket windshield was installed, the reflection from the HUD was totally out of focus with no solution, making the option useless, with weird fish bowl clarity looking forward..
We were in the process of trading it in, otherwise I would have had an OEM reinstalled.
Never anything less than OEM again.

I waited a couple extra weeks and a few hundred dollars out of pocket more for an OEM Ford windshield.
It’s perfect.

Yes, I always ask them what the options are for replacements and they always have a few to pick from I never pick the cheapest one and its always served me well. This time they only had the one option, blaming covid, said no idea when they would have any other options at this point. So here we are.

Next time I'll wait.
