Good day All !! I have a small issue with my A/C on my truck !! Vacuumed and recharged the unit about a week ago and it seemed to run good for a couple of days. The other day I was out and about and it was running good then the next thing it is blowing hot air so I shut it off !!! I shut the truck off for a while then had another small trip and put it on again and it was blowin as cold as it was before. I haven't run it since but it has me curious as to what may be causing the problem as it has done it before. Also something I noticed is it seems like the system is short cycling. The system is original and haven't replaced any mechanicals on it. I did do a dye test to see if there are any leaks but there was nothing visible. So I am at a bit of a loss on it. Any info would be appreciated, Thanks
The system could have a small leak and it has lost refrigerant over the past week. I would first connect manifold gauges and see what the readings are.
OK, so since we don't know exactly what you are working on I will take a wild guess. Most likely a leak in the system. You claimed it quit working and you shut it off but then it started working again. That's an indication of a evap freeze over not allowing air through and any cooling. You said it short cycles, that's also an indication of a leak. My guess is the front seal of the compressor is probably the culprit if you can't see any other leaks. Look for oil residue around the clutch of the compressor.
