Ok something is not paning out here.
A 86 4.9 would not be FI but would have a feed back system.
It would have a carb that a computer has some control over.
That computer also does timing so there is a little more than just installing a olders non-feed back carb on the motor.
Can you post up a few pictures of the new carb you installed and the dist. that you have in the motor so we know what you have to work with.
