4.9 timing help

I have a 1989 F15 2wd5 speed. I did testing on everything and replaced the distributor and it now starts. Power is down from when it had more things wrong with it and it is CHEEEEWING through gas. Timing is most likely the problem but i am struggling. I know the over arching basics but i can't see the timing mark on the scale when it is running. Any help on what the settings should be is greatly appreciated.

Try 10 degrees Before Top dead center. Make a white chalk mark at the 10 degree before top dead center mark and if necessary make a white mark on the indicator point.
