I asked this question on the older truck site but it appears that no one uses a memory saver on older trucks - what about the new trucks - if you change the battery do you need to use a memory saver so the computer doesn't lose it's collected information and then you need to go to the dealer and have the computer reprogramed - any thoughts on this - I see these things are for sale on Amazon - thanks - Joe

The computer might lose some memory if the battery is disconnected for quite awhile but after driving it for less than an hour or so the way you normally do, the system will learn it’s new curve and all will be fine. You won’t even notice the change or the learning process.
If you’re just disconnecting the battery to change it, which only takes a few minutes, it’s doubtful that any memory will be lost.
Some say that the BCM should be reset after a battery change and some don’t think it’s necessary. When I change my battery awhile back, I didn’t have the BCM reset and I’ve never had any problems.
To reset the BCM, a trip to your dealer or your preferred tech will be required or you can probably do it yourself with something like FORScan.
In other words, don’t waste your money on the item you saw on Amazon.
