Thinking about installing a dash cam. Anyone know if one that would mount on the rear view mirror or something like that?
I drive a lot of rough gravel roads so lots of vibration in the cab. Worried the cameras that stick on the window might end up falling off. Plus I go through a lot of windshields, sometimes two a year so theirs always the reattachment issue…
Could you mount it on the dash? There are dash mounting brackets, like the Ram Mount that work with some dash cameras. It might not get the same perspective as the windshield location. I think a dash mounted camera is going to have more vibration than one on the windshield.
I have the Thinkware camera. They sell replacement tape for the mounting of the camera. I had to do that after a windshield replacement. It was easy.

Search for rear view mirror dash cam on Amazon. I have an Auto-vox that I've had for quite a while. Here's one similar to what i have. (just an example not a recommendation)
Our Garmin dash cam magnetically attaches to a small metal plate stuck to the windshield. I bought some extra plates “just in case”; I had to deploy one new plate when we bought the new truck.
