Cab / Clearance Lights

Has anyone installed Clearance lights on the top of your Excursion? If so what brand and how hard was it?

Following, because I've been thinking about doing this or going the easy route and adding a lighted visor.

I installed cab lights on my truck, and I really like the way it turned out. You can definitely shop around and find higher quality lights, but my total cost of materials was $39.48 for the lights, and the harness. Install was not too difficult. I laid painters tape across the top of the truck and drew everything out, taking measurements from my dad's 02' F250. Links to the parts I bought on Amazon:

Markers:
Amazon Amazon
Harness:
Amazon Amazon

The only reason I did it was because I had already had the truck stripped out, headliner out, etc. The before and after was quite a difference, and I really think the Excursions do not look nearly as good without them. Would highly recommend people do this if they want to take the time. Don't drill your holes too big, and use silicone. I wired mine into the switch behind my dash to come on with my parking lights. Keep in mind, drilling holes in your roof is obviously creating another rust/fail point for the truck.

Also, don't be like me and make this an evening project unless you have a garage!

Appreciate that man! Definitely gives the truck a nice rugged look. I’ll grab a pic of her later tonight when it’s dark as I can’t find any in my camera roll with them on. They match the turn signals on the mirrors which I love. Here’s another daytime pic

There are solar powered LED ones that are made in USA I’m going with if I end up not being able to live without them. Before you discount them check them out. This forum will not allow me to post links so you will have to look them up.

That’s interesting about the solar powered units but I do a lot of night driving when I leave from LA to Lake Havasu 4 1/2 hours in the dark. And that’s if no idiot has an accident on the road LOL!

About 2 1/2 years ago I bought some recon cab lights and never installed them I couldn’t find them. So now that I’ve started looking tore some places apart and found them. They are the 2017 style but I bought the solid amber and I really like the smoke ones! Obviously they will not exchange them this late in the game. So I’m debating whether to spend more money and do it with the smoke or stay with what I already have which again are not installed. I literally just found them today

Did you read about them? How do you know they won’t stay charged 4 1/2 hours? Check them out!

Apparently it's a thing....
But not an option for me as my truck lives in the garage.
