Seems we have a few VW guys in this bunch. This here is the '65 Karmann Ghia I drug home from a Fresno back yard in 1998. Took a year to get it up and running and all purty. Been racing it ever since.
It went from a low 14 second street car, little by little to running a best of 9.70 at 142mph. 2165cc, turbocharged, mechanical injection running methanol. Lat year, I handed it down to my son. Now he's the owner/driver, and I'm "Pit B!tch". I've been running it at lower boost, and it runs 10.50, time after time without hurting anything.
It's been featured in VW Trends, and a French magazine called "Super VW" and it's been on the cover of Hot VWs.
I've fab'd a lot of the stuff on it myself, including the headers, intake, trailing arm coil-over rear suspension, roll cage, and a bunch of other stuff that can't be bought.
Since it went to live at my son's house, I wanted another project, so, I got the F100

LOL. Well, I did set the seat pretty low, and I'm not a tall man by any means! At least I can see over the dash when the front wheels aren't in the air!
But that's my son standing behind in the black shirt tan pants. It's his car now. We had to modify the roll cage a bit to set the seat back about three inches for him to fit. It's a hoot watching him drive. Solid father/son time!
You guys have definitely got some cool projects lying around!! And I definitely agree that there’s nothing better than that father/son time!! My boy heads back to college in a week 10hrs from home

It'll be tough while he's away. It was for me too. But he came back a much more mature person that I have a bunch of respect for.
Hopefully, it'll be the same for you when your boy is done with college
Believe it or not, this is a 75 T-top Vette that we converted to hard-top and grafted on a 68 nose and tail, shark gills and grafted on the 78 front flares…
This is my "Covid Project" that I stupidly purchased because I was stuck at home 6 days a week for a while. That motor has enough ponies to make my neighbor during a test ride say "****! Do you really have to go that fast?" Yes, Yes I do. 1970 Mustang
