E Brake Questions

My truck never had an e-brake hooked up so I ordered 2 rear cables. My question is how does it connect to 1: the front cable and 2: the rear drums ( 9" axle)

What parts am I still missing so I can get this together (if anyone could take some pics that would be a huge help)

One of the few things I have yet to tackle on mine. I have the same question so I'm just here to observe.

Here's a decent drawing from the Ford parts catalog to start with. The lever in your first picture and the ball on the end of the cable - that ball will seat into the notch in the arm (see my youtube video) and make sense once you have rearward pressure coming from the back cables. You'll need the new back cables of course. 1966 F100? - short or long wheelbase? Then a few other parts to connect the lever to the rear cables - lower right corner of the drawing shows the 2768 or 2A602 "Equalizer" and the threaded adjustment rod and nuts to hold that adjustment. Early Broncos use similar parts.

1966-1977 Early Ford Bronco Parking Brake Hardware & Parts (broncograveyard.com)
Scroll down to 12684 (you have that piece), 12685 and 12687. These seem like they are similar enough that they should work fine. I have not had to try them. Shop around to find a good price or a place close to you where you can get them and return them if they don't work.

Then inside of the drum you'd need the actuating arms for each side it looks like and the spreader bar and a few of the other pieces on that bronco web site. They list either 10" or 11" brakes so again not positive it will work but the pictures give you real examples and the 11" brakes are what an F100 typically has in the rears assuming nothing has been swapped. It looks like yours are original size, but measure to be sure.

If you tell us what wheelbase I can look up exact part numbers but looks like Crop Duster agrees those should work, too.

Hey guys great info thank you so much, so it is a 65 F100 short wheelbase but the rear axle is a 9" not sure if that's a stock axle for this truck

Yes, a 9" was the standard rear axle in an F100. Only reason I asked wheelbase was really if you are long wheelbase there are specific rear cables that you can get so you don't have to use the extensions on the short wheelbase cables. Everything else is identical.

What exactly do I need to go measure to determine if it is 10" or 11". Once I do that i can order the parts. I went to Napa and O'Reilly today but neither had the parts

What's wrong with the parts in the links that were posted. Those should cover all the parts you need.

That seemed wide open for a good punchline but I'll leave that and just say in this case it is the diameter of the inside of the brake drum measured like this, although you don't need more than a tape measure or ruler to tell. It's very likely close to 11".

Well... I ordered the parts through Wild Horses and they just sent me an email the links are on back order and not sure when they’ll available. Does anyone have a spare set? Or could someone possibly take some close photos and measurements and I can fab my own. Or another vendor? I can’t find these damn things anywhere
