How Do I replace a Block Plug?
Alright everyone a couple of days ago I noticed my engine was leaking coolant from above my starter. At first I thought it was the heater core based on some other threads but it ended up being the block plug right above the starter. What I am wondering is how hard are is that one to replace on the 351m and is there any tips or tricks yall have?

Just from memory, I think once you get the starter out of your way and coolant drained, shouldn't be too difficult. I haven't done a 351M yet, but long ago on something else a hole punch (drill) followed by a nice 3/8" lag bolt let me wedge the old one enough to grab an edge with vise grips. Clean the hole, a little sealant on new plug, tap tap it in evenly.

So for a block heater, does the heater sit in the coolant passage or how does that all work. Is the purpose to speed the warm up and keep from freezing or both. Also for the drain plug what is the stock size, this one has been leaking for a while and is a rusty goopy mess.

Engine Block Heaters (lmctruck.com) Just install in place of a regular freeze plug, add a few zip ties, and you're golden.
The 3 prong plug runs to the grill shell and plugs into household current with an extension cord.
Anyhow, yeah...we just plug it in at night if the forecast is below zero. Makes for easier morning starts in freezing temps.
