Thank You, I updated the first truck and it worked! I went for a short drive to see if the phone volume was corrected and sure enough, it is. I made call to the person who complained about the volume the most and she thought I was in my car. I'll be updating the others tomorrow.
Anyone have issues with this taking forever? It seems like its stuck on "extracting map package." I tried this last night - got over 2 hours and ultimately I had to go to bed... Started it this am - it asked for the USB stick again and seems to get stuck in the same spot. Timer still counting up and pics still changing - I guess just let it run forever and see what happens or can it get "stuck" somewhere like this?

Yes the map packages do take a while but not 2 hours.
Are you updating all packages ? Sync and maps at the same time ?
It s recommended to do one at a time Sync then maps
It looks like the latest Sync update has resolved the Apple CarPlay volume issue where callers could barely hear you. Did a test call with my wife, and volume was greatly improved. Attempted calls with both Bluetooth and CarPlay and could hear and be heard at normal volume levels. I hope this info helps and it’s not just me! Can’t confirm any changes to the Sirius traffic or other services yet.
Its at almost 3 hours now... The issue is that I initially tried to go from 3.4.21020 to 3.4.21194. I did the updater as in the past - and it was oddly quick. I checked the software and it was 3.3.19052. Not sure how that happened exactly. It worked - but I wanted 3.4.21194 so I re-downloaded the software again making sure that it said going from 3.3.19052 to 3.4.21194. I did include maps - I did that before on my truck and wife's Explorer w/ no issues. Should've left well enough alone I guess - but now I've got this thing stuck in some sort of update. Clock is still ticking up and pics keep changing like its doing something - but its been extracting map packages for 2.5 hours... I had stopped it late last night because it was after midnight - just kept coming up w/ the insert USB notification. Probably not a great scenario...
Generally speaking - with a 2020 SuperDuty i bought new..... just so I dont have to deal with this - is it customary that my (big) Ford dealer would do the update(s) for me for *no charge* ?
i have no idea....
just dont want the hassle of doing it myself.... plus i have no idea what I'm doing.

thx.
I don't see any dealer doing upwards of 4+ hours (sometimes) more for no charge. It's not covered under warranty either.
After 4.5 hours...I'm good to go! It finally finished updating and I have a fully functional 3.4.21194. Crazy it took that long...
Wow. That’s a crazy amount of time
i have done at least a dozen now never has it taken that long. Including a sync 2 to 3 conversion and alum update from 2.2 all the way up to 3.4.
Just any ordinary USB stick will work, format it in windows as exFAT, all on the website under instructions. My truck did not generate a log file to send back to ford but im not worried about it.
May I ask what usb3 drive (brand) you used? wow that is fast
and can anyone please post a link to the proper Ford website for download of the file, and info on that same website as to how to do all this?
thanks. :-)
My vehicle also took about 10 minutes - this is because I chose to keep existing maps (as mine were already up to date). Maps contain a crazy amount of data.
