wiper issues,
2008 f250 v10 lariat crew cab 93K on the clock everything has been flawless, two days ago I pulled a trailer for a buddy, I kept getting trailer wiring fault warnings on the dash on and off on the run, about 30 miles, the trailer brakes were in and out when this warning would occur, day after the trailer truck was in the shop for a new radio not driven the day after the trailer pull (maestro rr interface into the factory radio harness, factory sirus xm retained, factory SWC retained, truck had the factory 6cd radio with no amp or subwoofer)
Problem:
today I have no intermittent wipers, no wiper wash, wipers work on high only
the 4x4 engages hi and low but the lights on the dash do not light up, it is definitely engaging 4wd
I went through every fuse and relay, the trailer fried fuse #44 under the hood, (30 amp, trailer battery charge relay)
This is the only blown fuse and all relays appear to work.
In my searching I have seen lots of info that the wiper symptoms would be the wiper motor. Several sources claim it controls both functions. ( i have also seen information that there is a motor control (motorcraft sw7665) in the system that would control the intermittent wipers, I have not seen anywhere that this would also control the wash function.
I have seen that a bad switch could keep the 4x4 lights from lighting.
Suggestions would be welcome. I have ordered a new wiper motor as it was not expensive and is a fairly easy install. I am prepared to install a new stalk on the dash and a new control switch sw7665, I am heading on a trip in about 10 days, I can live without the 4x4 indicator lights, but wipers need to work.
I see no reason that either the radio install or pulling the trailer would have caused this, I am thinking it was a coincidence, but I guess it possible that a short from the trailer wiring could have fried something???
quick edit, one other item I found was several digrams that showed relay 17 under the hood was for the wipers, on my truck the owners manual and the power center have the relay 17 as unused, there literally is no relay spot for my wipers, I am assuming this is being handled by the control switch sw7665.
thanks
