I don;t know if this the correct forum or not but I need help so here goes. i have a 1999 Winnebago Brave 35c that has a F550 chassis with a 6.8 liter EFI V-10 engine. The VIN starts is 3FCNF53SXXJA11286.
The problem I have is when I am driving and let off the accelerator, the engine dies and will not restart. I have found that if I put it in neutral while it is rolling that it will restart sometimes.
A P0500 code is displayed when I pull a code which says Vehicle Speed Sensor. Everyone I talk to says that should not cause a loss of power. Another issue is finding someone to work on a gas powered Class A motorhome. It is sitting in my front yard and will not start. I turns over but is not firing. I just replaced the Vehicle speed sensor and it still will not start.
Thanks in advance for your help. JR

Is it a crank no-start or a no-crank-no-start? If it cranks I would first check to see if you're receiving a signal to fire at one of the coils. Can also see if it'll start spraying starting fluid into the intake duct.

it is a crank no start problem. How do I check if the coil is receiving a singal to fire.
I have also had the gas tank dropped to check for junk in the tank, nothing there. I replaced the fuel pump and filter also so I don't think it is a fuel issue.

If it is turning over but not starting, I'd be checking fuel system. Check pressure at fuel rail and/or at the fuel filter. From reading on here, it seems like 95% of crank and no starts are caused by a failed or failing fuel pump.

If that has the original Ford fuel pump in the tank, check for operation and fuel rail pressure first. Those were problematic pumps in a lot of V10 applications from 1998-2004, and Motorcraft has since offered an updated unit.
OP said he replaced the fuel pump and filter. To OP did you check if fuel pump is actually getting power and running? For the engine to run it needs air, fuel and ignition. Also your our Class A chassis is a F53, if you look at your VIN you will see F53 it is in the 5th, 6th, and 7th position.

Just saw you posted this before me. The fact you drive then loss of power could also point to a faulty fuel pump relay. Cheap and easy to swap.
Thanks for everyone's input. I just got a hold of a ford truck mechanic with 25 years of experience and he was able to help me.
The issue was the crankshaft position sensor connection. It was corroded so the computer did not know I was turning the engine over.
He disconnected and reconnected it and the RV started immediately.
He is going to replace the sensor and connector this weekend so I will not have any more issues.
While he is doing that I am having him replace the belt.
