2003 excursion 6.0 Diesel

Just bought this Excursion for my wife about three weeks ago. I am looking to bulletproof it so I have some questions. This is my first Diesel. Should I do a EGR delete or a EGR cooler? The internet has given me different results so what do yall say? Also, I have only driven it for abot 50 miles and already I have messed up something in it. I pulled down the sunglass holder and now it won't close back up. A pair of metal clips have popped out of place and won't go back in. Is the overhead console going to have to come down? My sweet gentle loving wife is not happy with me over this. She does not want me to take the overhead console down.

Depends on your States current emissions testing, your states planned testing in the near future and how long you think you will be keeping the vehicle.

all 50 states are implementing stricter emissions requirments not to mention trhe Federal .gov is still trying to adopt the CA regulations which as you may know are the strictest on the planet.

if you are in CA or your state is phasing in the CA emmisions model than you would be foolish to delete or change any emissions related item as you will be denied registration.

Bullet Proof as far as I know still makes a very high quality product but even so they do not fit quite as well as the original Ford cooler, The Ford EGR cooler on the other hand has been changed over the years and is no longer the failrure prone part it once was. back in 2005-2008 the Bullet Proof cooler was certainly a godsend and must have part, nowdays I would personally just use the new Ford cooler.

Edit, your over head console…. ya thay break. fix it and it breaks again eventually. better yet, let your wife fix it. sounds liuke she has a strong opinion on the matter.

Welcome. First where are you located? They may be several owners in the area that are willing to help....I just realized that sounds like one of those pesky ads on the web... Click here for lonely excursion owners in your area....haha. I think I will change the link to the excursion map in my sig now.....

My personal opinion is I would not bulletproof it until it breaks. I did and had to do that repair again down the road. When it breaks, then fix and upgrade.

Thanks. I believe I will let the bulletproofing wait until something breaks.
Still getting evil glares because of the sunglasses holder tho. Oh well.

Click on the link in my signature and when the page comes up use EXcursion as the password. In the top left you will see the ability to make an addition to the map. Only put your city and state, do not put your whole address in there.
Most members just put their screen name and city/state. Other members will also add if they are able to help with any repairs, etc.
