I have visited a few PSD sites and have seen information on
a high pressur cross over hose?
Product claims:
"This hose is used to bridge the two high pressure oil rails in the cylinder heads that feed the injectors. The installation of the HX kit will result in a more even delivery of fuel to the injectors. By evenly distributing oil pressure, the idle will typically smooth out due to the computer being able to read the oil pressure of both high pressure oil rails, and thereby balancing the pressure between both rails. This modification can calm down (quiet) rough idling Powerstrokes."
Has anybody installed this hose?
Any difference in performance or idle?
Worth buying?
"Has anybody installed this hose? "
I've put it on mine. "Any difference in performance or idle? "
It smoothed out the idle considerably, and made the truck run smoother overall. "Worth buying? "
I'd say so. For what it costs, and how easy it is to install, I don't think you can go wrong. It won't make a huge difference in performance like a chip, but it's an enhancement that makes for a more driveable truck.
To me, it's gratifying when the wife tells me how much better the truck runs since I started doing mods. This is one of the things that improves the overall operation a little.
Thanks Heatstroked. Sounds like a good mod for cheap money. Im gonna order one. All these mods ive been doing, may be time to spend some money on a set of gauges...
I just installed one on mine last week. It made a remarkable difference in how smoother and quieter my truck runs. It's still louder than the 98+ powerstrokes but not as harsh as it once was. Like Quadzilla said, well worth it for what it costs and the installation is a snap. Good Luck!
I have the cross over line on my '01. I like the smoother idle. It also seems to have given my truck better acceleration and mileage. I am very pleased with the results for the money spent.
It's not a bad mod by any means. Where I noticed it the most was with the 10K or the 5.6K resistor switched on. Helped to smooth out and quiet down the idle. Not much (if any) difference in power or economy.
Do make sure that you keep the plugs and a wrench in the truck, just in case.
I have a question about the crossover. I took a look at my engine. The plugs the you are supposed to connected already have hoses coming out. They both go to a box in front and just below the fuel filter. Its a 95, is this right?
The "box" is the high pressure oil pump. You move the line on the drivers side head from #6 and attach it to #4. The crossover hose then goes from #6 to #5. Look at this Picture for plug number identification. This Picture shows the installation completed.
