My F350 dump had no place for spare. How long is the bed on yours?

I am working on getting all my gauges working. I have one instrument light that uses a GE57 bulb where the previous owner tried to utilize a different light fixture. It does not work so I would like to replace it. I have check most of the car mags, MACS, Ecklers, LMC, NPD.

Does anyone know where to get instrument lights, not the bulb, the socket for the 1960 Ford truck?

Very ice truck, I love it!
I have the same problem with my 56 F350 having 16 inch split rims, so far I haven't found any local tire shop that will work on them. At least I have a bunch of spare tires on rims but they aren't in good shape either.
I don't know anything about the spare tire mounting or jack, mine didn't come with either when I got it 15 yrs ago.

Thanks Fomoko1. Yes split rims. Mine were installed Les Swab in 1986 according to the receipt in the glove box. I am going to try to get them to install new tires when I get her running. RIght now I am working on gauges, they all work now except for the speedometer. Cable is not turning so it is either broken or the driven gear is toast. In the glove box is a new driven gear so I am guessing at one time someone had an idea of fixing it.

I am trying to find a instrument panel light sockt, one of mine is bad, the original had been replaced but is not working with the GE57 bulbs. Last night I did run accross a website Mid Fifties with socket they say fits a 1948-1979 part number 2620-2. Not sure if it will work, kind of looks like it might. Total would be about $20 so it would not break the bank if it did not fit.

While I am under the truck looking at the speedometer, I am also going to look at the emergency brake. Assembly as far as I can tell is intact but the shoes look pretty thin and probably neeed to be relined. Pulling the brake lever all the way back does not catch anything.

Unfortunately we don't have a Les Swab shop around here. None of the instrument panel lights work in my 56 F350 so I think that the head light switch needs replacing. I seldom drive it at night so that isn't a real problem. Amazingly enough my speedometer works which I'm very thankful for. I've never tried the emergency brake, on the 57 F350 I had it would stick on. If you find out where to get new shoes post it here please.

spedometer cable seized up. Removed and cleaned it up, it’s easy to remove so I will se if the old one will work. I removed the driven gear and I think I need a new one. There is an abundance of metal chips, is there a way to flush a transmission? I hope I can find a driven gear.

I'm not sure what the best way to flush the transmission, maybe get a magnetic drain plug for it?

Is it a T98? If so, there is a drain plug on bottom. You could remove shifter and flush through there. Easier to fill from there too. Don't drop the shifter pin. How does he know that?

yes it is a t98a. What to use for a flush?

I have searched the web for a driven gear, any thoughts on where to get one?

also book says to use sae 50 heavy duty engine oil for manual transmission. Would that be non-detergent?

Solvent or diesel fuel would be my guess for flushing.

My used t98 was a mess because it sat outside the previous owner's house. When i drained the oil it came out like milk and top tower was all gummed up. Neighbor helped me rebuild my original but it made s horrible noise and a synchro came apart. I washed mine out with old gas and rinsed with gear oil. I run 90 wt. in mine. My power take-off leaks so use heavier oil. I moved my tower and rear housing to used transmission. Drive gear should look like this one. LMC lists them for $12.95 Guessing it is 19 tooth by number but didn’t count..

JohnNewb thanks for the picture. Exactly what I am looking for, but I guess I just don't know how to use the LMC site. My truck is an F350, highest they go is a f250. Yup they sell the F250 drive gears for 12.95 but I think the one I am looking for is different. Can you get the part number for the one that will fit your truck?

Should be right. The gear in picture is out of an f100 but same numbers as on yours. I think their catalog picture is bad. Maybe call them and see if part looks like what you have. Frustrating they don't list F350.
