Lose wire

I just purchased a 2017 Super Duty 6.2. I was changing the air filter and found a wire loped around the ac hose.
It has a clip on the end like it should go somewhere. Any help would be appreciated.

Looks to me like it is an unused wire as it appears to have a safety cap over the end. Maybe for an option that ur truck didn’t come with?

That's an unused wire with a dummy plug over the end. It probably clips into something to keep it tucked out of the way.

I don't see that plug to anything or floating in my 2017 6.2 XL. Just took a quick look because it's raining and I'm a witch so I'll melt

Yes I think it is a unused wire. Looks like it should clip somewhere so it doesn’t hang lose. I haven’t found where it should go.

I think mine has a metal clasp and it just hooks to a rib on the air filter cover

I have some of those around my 2020. I think that to help commonize, they may utilize the mac-daddy optioned harness, and just cap off what ever options aren't applicable to your build. That would make sense from a ease of production perspective.
