7.3 idi injection pump wiring issues

Long story short, it looks like the PO jumped these two connectors on the aide of the injection pump for some reason.

The yellow wire is the jumper wire. What do these two connectors do?

Also, this sensor I am pointing at is loose, with only 1 out of 2 screws holding it in.

I assume this is for the cruise control.

The tach gauge is not working right, bouncing around and occasionally reading 0 rpms. I'm wondering if these have anything to do with it.

I could be wrong, but those two wires jumped together are most likely for the high idle solenoid, and cold timing advance. Sensor in the head probably burnt out, or the connector to it got damaged.

Is your truck an automatic? If so, the piece missing the screw will be for the transmission. I'm not up on the auto trans parts, as I have a manual. Somebody with more knowledge on that should be along soon.

What you're pointing at has nothing to do with the cruise. The voltage signal that produces goes to your trans. You need the 2 screws. I'm forgetting the name of it- right on my tongue. As far as the wires, they should be for the cold idle solenoid and fuel shutoff switch. No idea what's going on there. If Lonewolf was still here he'd have the complete answer.

that blue thing looks like a e4od connection the shifts the trans off some electronic gizmo that will eventually fail and
boo hoo lonewolfy is not here anymore....
...but thats an e4od right? Start saving your money!~-)
and lonewolfy detailed a tach breakdown last year and gave lotsa awesome info on what to do and where did it go? Dunno.....and lonewolfy is not here anymore?....thereyago....awesome fte clickcounters

lonewolf could not play well with others outside this forum and through a mutual agreement left FTE.

yes, it is an automatic, and one which is having transmission shifting issues. I believe I know why now, lol. For the high idle and cold timing advance, what sensor in the head are you talking about?

The sensor is by the thermostat housing, kind of behind it in the deep dark depths lol.

Couldn't paste a pic so here’s a link to a thread, post #4 is the sensor.

The thing you are pointing to in the photo is the FIPL (TPS) for the e40d transmission. This definitely needs two screws. It pivots on those screws in order to get the appropriate voltage readout at idle and WOT. Respectively, that should be 1.1 at idle and 3.8 ish at WOT. That is extremely important regarding proper trans shifting and O/D.
