Shock Reccomendations

Hey, I'm looking into putting some new shocks on my 4X2 Ranger regular cab. I'm looking for a nice, firm ride that isn't too floaty or sloppy feeling. I don't go off roading, and I occasionally will haul a load. Does anybody have any good reccomendations? Anything like Bilstein, Gabriel, or OME? Any help would be appreciated.

I'd pass on OEM, but either of the other two are good brands.

Though . . they tend to cater to oposit ends of the spectrum:

Bilstein = performance

Gabriel = cushey ride

FWIW (and only my opinion).

I have a 99 with 69,000 on it. Switched to Monroe and they are working great, all freeway driving. When we changed the shocks you could compress the old ones without any strain. Happy with the outcome.

For smooth ride, and improved handling, go with the Bilsteins!!!

Check out Tokico Trek Masters. Had them on a Nissan before it was totalled in a hit and run (hence the Ford I now own) and I liked them. http://www.tokicogasshocks.com/truck/truck.html
