Thinking about swapping 5-speed to AOD
Hopefully somebody had done this and can tell me what kind of nightmare I'm getting into.

Mazda M5OD 5-speed
1) running coolent lines from the radiator.
2) new fly wheel and starter
3) you probable will need to modify the mounting bracket for the transmission.
4) you will probable need drive shaft work done.
Some other words of wisdom are make sure you get the proper transmission for 4x4 or 2x4. B&M makes a nice truck shifter that mounts on the floor and is high enough for use in a full size truck. The reverse light switch is located by the transmission, you can run them up to the new shifter. You can use the wires from the switch at the clutch, which prevent you from starting the truck unless the clucth is in, to prvent the truck from starting in gear.
When installing the transmission make sure the torgue converter is in place and then put the transmission in (this is a pain in the neck) otherwise the cats will be in the way and the transmission will not go in. We learned this the hard way.
With my brother and myself we finished the job in a weekend (minus the drive shaft which were then being modified).
I hope this helps I can supply more specific information if needed.

That's my feeling.
Hotrod, I'm having to do the same, but to replace a 3sp. C5 that came with the 6. On the Houston freeways if you're not doin 80mph, well you know...
I plan on using a 83 TownCar AOD, I've bought the TV cable, ($100) and plan on using a TransGo kit.
