Less than a month old 2021 F350, with PSD, DRW. This is my first new truck since 2001, and something has been bothering me about the open vent in the front bumper...well 2 things. One, is there supposed to be better protection for the cooler coil? And two, although it's a minor annoyance, it looks to me like my license plate bracket should sit higher, covering some of the vent and site more centered?
Any insight would be appreciated. My 01 F250 had the V10 and I am unfamiliar with the airflow needs of the newer rigs.
That doesn't look like the bracket I've seen on the new trucks.
The one I've seen is a big black plastic deal that sits with the bottom of the bracket on the edge of the bumper, the plate area sticking up in the bumper opening in front of the cooler.
Were it mine, I'd take that off and fix it so it sits centered at the very least.
Also, they never have put anything in there to protect the cooler.
I would go back to Elk Grove Ford and demand they replace their dealer advertisement with the mandated free front license plate mount provided by Ford.
Thanks for the reply Ltngdrvr, Guess I just need to get used to the big gaping hole, and trust Ford engineers. I took the license plate bracket off, it snaps into slots which look factory cut in the lower air dam then clips to the lower opening of the bumper. Must be a reason for it, but looks stupid and weak to me. I'm going to try to find something more substantial and replace it.
Don't get me started about that dealer...right after I picked up the truck and got it near home, I noticed the driver side outside tire was really scuffed up and not by me. (it was nice n shiny with armor all) We determined it had been done by the transport company and the truck had been dropped off at night with no one to inspect it. Even so, it went unnoticed by the detailers and others. I went back, an hour and a half drive, for them to take photos and submit a claim with the transport company. They say it's cosmetic and won't affect the tire safety. That was over 3 weeks ago and still no word. The way I see it, I spend $87K on a truck and any "cosmetic" or character marks are for me to put there.

If you get the plate holder that most come with, like shown in that link above, it will be centered and provide some coverage over that opening.
Is the license plate bracket used up to the dealer? Because mine is as you say, it sits higher and blocks some of the opening to the cooler.
They are a no charge line item on the window sticker. So I assumed they rolled off the truck with the bracket factory installed. Could just come loose in the truck and then the dealer installs it, not sure.

Comes in a plastic bag in the back seat, along with the floor mats, receiver adapter and other junk.
Gets installed (supposed to anyway) during PDI.
So, you have minimum wage guys, guys not even qualified for car oil changes, doing the install...
