Ac, Steep prices

Had my truck put in shop last Thursday. Needless to say what they wanted was up there.
Diagnosis was bad compressor, and said fan clutch was bad. Not to sure on fan clutch. I have been driving this summer with Temps ranging 188 to 195 in 95 degree weather. Anyway, they charged me $331 for compressor and $300 for fan clutch. $339 for labor. Now he did buy oem parts from dealership. I did demand he replace orifice, (thought about having condenser done, but with those prices I'll wait) 'and he said he did orifice' we'll see on that.
$1248.00 total.
Looked at it Friday afternoon when I got home, missing radiator hold down bolt and no caps on high or low pressure tubes. Was on the phone quick. Went in today to have set wright. They put caps on but will have to order the stud and clip for the radiator hold down. Mechanic lost it. You'd figure, if your working on a clean we'll kept motor you wouldn't leave a bolt out you can see when you lift the hood. And for$1200 You'd make sure it's wright.
Ac works great. Ect temps are the same as before, so not really sure on that one.

I feel your pain. My compressor was replaced last year. Inner fender screws missing, radiator shroud not latched in and a few other items. I had the orifice tube replaced several times to get the crap out of the system. I am still not really cold at idle, thinking fan clutch but I can't figure out how to test the fluid clutch, electric works fine.

Prices seem fair. Those caps unscrew themselves during mating season. You can find them shacking up under the battery box. Bolt and clip prolly watching.

Commie they where there when dropped off. I hope they didn't migrat after only one day.

Excur, they didn't go through wheel well, thank God. Used a lift. I have the fender well trim, who knows what they would have done there. The stator and shroud where reinstalled correctly, I looked after seeing missing bolt on radiator hold down.

Ow new twist. Passenger side headlight doesn't work. Got under hood to check it out, it was unplugged , but you cannot connect it to make it stay. I haven't gotten in there to investigate. Pulling battery and or light?
I'm dropping it off tomorrow to have them fix all these issues. Not too sure if I trust him do any more work on my truck, but I'm so busy, I can't do it.

My AC works on a part time schedule, I can't figure it out. Sometimes its ice cold at idle but upon driving away the AC warms up. Other times it starts warm and after a period of many miles, it becomes ice cold.

I thought if the electronically-controlled fan clutch fails, the truck won't run?

Check the clutch gap. If worn, adjust the shims.
