It hasn’t happened yet, but I’m pretty sure at some point I’m going to reach over to crank the volume on the radio and instead turn the rotary switch for 4wd. Or, I’ll be off-roading and put the truck into 2wd instead of turning the radio down. It seems like a very poor design decision.
Has anyone done this? Does anyone know of an OEM replacement that operates the locker as well?
That's funny... sure could happen though. I wish I could have ordered a manual t-case floor lever, I have no love for the system employed, even if everyone claims it is reliable. My old truck has the **** that is just the locker but on the previous body trucks the radio **** isn't similar and close like that.
Seems like on every generation the transfer case switch is identical to the fan and or radio switch. I did actually engage the transfer case by accident in a previous truck while reaching for the fan.
Don't have to worry about it on my last two super duties because the transfer case engages like it's supposed to, via a lever on the floor.
It won't switch into or out of 4L so the worst case scenario is you go into 4H, or you switch out of 4H to 2H.
Use the steering wheel volume buttons and keep your hands on the wheel at 10 and 2 like they said in Driver's Ed !!
I don’t have the SW buttons Hopefully the system won’t engage 4H at any “unsafe” speed. I do miss my floor lever from the Wrangler but LOVE this truck.
All the trucks with Bluetooth have steering wheel buttons and that system is no different. Only the base model trucks without Bluetooth have no steering wheel buttons. Base XL no radio buttons.

The only difference is that base is spelled STX on mine
Something is definitely off there, that isn't the base radio. The base radio looks just like the one I posted prior. Your truck came with Sync and enhanced voice recognized as part of the 17S (STX) option.
