I searched the forum and found quite a few good pics of installs, but does anyone have a link to some mounting brackets that can be used for mounting above the spare for this kit? Just looking to get something to maintain trailer tires on long hauls.
Viair has its own mounting bracket for the compressor: Viair 95900. This should allow you to find various frame locations that would accept bolts and hardware.
moynihan1129 - I used the ARB mounting bolts to mount it. The tanks was a trip to ACE for some bolts and drilled some holes in the tank bracket and spare tire cross member.
Used superstrut channel from Home Depot.
Ran rails on top of the spare mount and below then bolted them together.
Didn’t have to drill in the frame this way. Compressor sits on top of the bottom rails exactly where Empire designs is, tank is where Squirrel’s is with the rails coming out just enough to bolt the tank to them.
Around $50 in hardware
Nice. I have the VIAIR Kit as well as an ARB Compressor. I wonder which is the more durable unit. I'll still use the VIAIR tank but debating which compressor to use.
Thanks so much for posting these pictures. I installed the exact duplicate of your photos this weekend...also added air horns to the install as well as a light bar (front) and scene lighting (rear). These pics saved me big time. Thanks again!

I am looking into the 408C to air up truck and trailer tires while on the road in case of emergency. Does this require a separate tank?
I've been looking into this install a lot. I just bought the Viair constant duty kit and have been stressing about rust developing in the tank. I currently live in a RV so having this set up would give me compressed air whenever/wherever and replace my need for a "normal" garage compressor.
Also going to put a hose on the drain plug and run it to the back of the truck with a ball valve. I am not comfortable letting water sit in there, and don't want to climb under to drain it every time.
What do you guys think about the after cooler to reduce moisture in the line?

What do you see yourself using the compressor for. In most cases if its for tires etc you dont need the tank. A dual ARB setup may be better. if you need the tank I would mount it somewhere closer to the exterior of the truck. if you have a tool box its probably better to mount it in there. That way its easy to access.
