I’ve noticed recently that my truck seems like when it cranks that it’s starting to get slow like maybe the battery is getting weak. I watched the voltage on my programmer as I driving and it was saying 14.1 - 14.2 so I put my battery charger on it and this morning it was better for sure.
I was curious if something in the tune would draw more from the battery or alternator cause the battery to get drained more? My thought was to get a new alternator and also get a 240 amp rather than the 220 amp that’s on my truck now.
The tune should not alter anything with the truck's charging system. Changing the alternator is an expense that will have little if any return. 4 years on the battery - I'd start with replacing that.
On my prior truck, slower starts were my clue that the battery was on its way out. A volt meter on the battery at various times (after sitting for a while, while running, etc) is good data to make a decision from. If you have any aftermarket electronics installed, that may be a good place to start.
A well rested lead acid battery will have a voltage slightly higher than 12.6.
