E4OD issue
I have a 1993 F350, 7,3 idi with a E4OD, which is giving me some trouble.
It is surging, and when i put it in Drive, it seems it take off in 4th gear.
Looks like 1st gear is also not working when i put it in first.
Read codes today, got 23, 29, 62, 67, 91, 94 and 99.
Replaced the FIPL sensor, and adjusted it to 1,5 at idle and 4,10 at wot.
Replaced vss.
Checked and cleaned the connections on the mpls and the solenoid pack. Noticed some oil on the connector to the solenoid pack.
Could it be just the wiring, or also the solenoid pack?
Appreciate any suggestions.
Found the connector to the solenoid pack to be loose. Replaced the wiring harness. Have all gears now. Replaced the MLPS. Cleared all codes, except 23, and 62. It still surging, at certain rpm's and speeds. When od is on, it surges on various speeds, but seems at a certain rpm. When od is off, it shifts "normal" from 1-2-3, and then from 3-4 almost immediately, around 35 mph, and it wil go back snd forth between 3 & 4 if i stay around that speed.
I replaced the FIPL, and adjusted it to 1,25V at idle, and 4,18 at WOT.
Im not sure where to look next...
And btw, the od light is not working either.
What you think is the 3-4 shift is actually the torque converter clutch locking.
Your problem is probably the 23 code, which indicates a problem with the throttle position sensor or wiring to the sensor.
