Ethanol fuel

Pickup is a 1993 F250 with a 460. I am running a Quarterhorse, so I can easily tune for different fuel types.

What do I need to do to run ethanol in my pickup? Mostly curious about 10-15%, but I'm also curious about E85.

What can ethanol potentially damage in a vehicle that wasn't designed to run it? Fuel pumps? More frequent filter changes?

Is it simply a volume issue, since you need more ethanol to make the same power?

You have to run a richer Mix. Which means the computer would need to compensate for it. The Quarterhorse might do it, no idea, never messed with one.

But you're going to need to basically replace every piece of rubber in the fuel system, to run E85. The Higher ethanol content will just destroy it all, as the rubber in the system wasn't designed for it.

E10 or E15, you're already getting at the pump, in most places in the US, unless you happen to be buying "Ethanol-Free" Fuel specifically. So you don't have to do anything, you're probably already running it.

I only fill my pickup with ethanol-free gas. I'd like to cut costs and run E10 or E15. Is 10-15% low enough that it won't cause any problems?

Yes. it will work fine, you'll get fewer mpg, but it's not going to hurt anything.

I've run the e10 in my 93 for quite a few years with no problems.

The 94 owners manual has some specs on additives, and states that up to 10% ethanol is fine. It also states, as does the workshop manual, that low quality fuels can cause hard starting, stalls, etc.

I run e10 with no problems, but you do loose a bit of mileage compared to ethanol free. Not enough difference in performance to make up of the difference in price for everyday.

Good info. The price where i live is $2.89 for 87 10% and $3.23 for 91 0%, so it makes a difference.
