Viscous fan problems
Have a 2002 f450 single cab with a v10 and auto transmission. Just replaced the engine with a Ford reman new radiator, belts, tensioner, hoses, on and on I gold plated this thing. Didn’t replace the viscous fan clutch as it looked pretty new still had some printing on it from q c? Drove it around the house some no problems everything was perfect. Hooked my dump trailer behind it loaded with 13000 headed up a long hill by my house and it pegged the coolant gauge, check engine light on. Check gauges on stopped and it cooled down once load was Removed. Limped it back down hill didn’t loose any coolant. Pulled viscous fan. When it’s in a vice in the upright position after a few turns it loses all resistance. No matter which way the spring is turned I hope I didn’t hurt the engine. Anyone have any thing similar with these clutches?
