YANF (Yet Another New Fool)
I go by Rob.
I'm 61
Most of my life I have worked as either a Technician, or Mechanic.
Most of my Technician work has been either computers, electronics, or maintenance tech type stuff.
When I was 16, I worked in a shop that made dune buggies out of VW bugs.
After that, I branched out.
I've worked on motorcycles, lawnmowers, chainsaws, cars. damn near everything except the big rigs.
I prefer the technician work I did as it was generally not as messy.
I also got tired of being everyone's "best friend" when they had car trouble. Paying for my work with weed, beer, pizza was somewhat acceptable when I was in my 20s. but not anymore.
So I kept my mechanical skills/knowledge to myself for the most part.
These days I mainly deal with electronics, focusing mostly on guitar related electronics, like amps and effects pedals.
I do spend a good deal of time on a few different guitar and guitar related electronics forums and help people there.
So I'm not miserly and selfish with my knowledge.
I have a few issues with my 2002 Ford Expedition, so that's what brought me here.
