My 2020 F250 Lariat has less than 10k on it and the media system is already acting up. Media button doesn’t work to go from AM to FM to XM to phone, etc. It locks up on a station and the selection **** won’t change it. I’ve tried to set the station selection buttons while in separate modes and the buttons don’t seem to have any connection to the mode your in. Very frustrating. Even more frustrating is that it is intermittent, and, of course when I brought it into the dealership this morning to show the rep, it seemed to work. I’ve also had issues with startup and no reverse camera for a minute or so. Anyone else had this issue - and if so, what was the fix?
FYI - mechanic had to do the APIM reset, but also had to download an update to get it working right. Now my FordPass won’t sync - but not worried about that. But, at least the system now seems to work. Hope so - have a 1k trip ahead. Thanks all for the collective wisdom in this forum!
After the APIM reset and update, the problem continues. I’ve narrowed some symptoms down to this. I usually leave the radio on to SiriusXM when I shut the ignition off. It usually comes back on when starting up and media button rotates modes from XM through FM - then everything locks there. Selector buttons don’t work. Media button won’t work. But the FM station stays on. Go figure! Have appt again Monday. Any thoughts to pass on to the frustrated mechanic?

No guarantees but, try this. When starting the truck, put the key in, turn key to “On”, wait until the radio starts to play, then start the truck. I have to do this with my 2017. If I just jump in &crank it right away, it will revert back to AM every time. YMMV
MY 2021 IS DOING THE SAME THING!!! The SiriusXm station goes dead but AM and FM work just fine, sometimes everything locks but just today on my way home the Sirius stations went dead but all other stations and buttons worked. Guess I need to make an appointment as well. Let us know how it goes with the dealer.
99FORD EXPY - thanks for sharing that. At least I know I’m not alone - meaning Ford will probably have to come up with a solution. And I’m thinking you might be right GABAR. The dealer intimated they might have to order parts. I can’t imagine how one gets to that media system in the dashboard.

My 2021 F350 XLT is doing the exact same thing except my Sirius will work all day long until I turn the vehicle off and then back on a little while later (within a minute or two) . Am/fm good, sirius nothing. I have to leave the truck off for a longer period of time for it to come back. And no amount of time will bring it back without shutting down. Drove for 3 hours coming home listening to FM cause of no sirius. The other thing is, this is a more recent issue. (month or two) It has not happened the entire time I've had it (December).
If it wasn’t for the fact that the media button doesn’t work, I would wonder if it is a SiriusXM issue.
That and my 2019 Edge doesn't have the issue. I would think we would have the issue on the Edge as well if it was a Sirius problem. Guess a trip to the dealer is needed. 🙄 Good thing is it's super reproducible which is always a plus.
