Okay so, i have a 1980 f150. i’m thinking the fuel pump might’ve ****e the bed but i’m just exploring other options to be sure. Anyways so the only way my truck fires up and stays running, is if before i start it i pour like a litre or so of gas directly into my carb. i hen it’ll run for a couple minutes: Well after it died out once i decided to see if it would start again (right after it died) and i heard this loud bang from under my hood, and this little filter thing that appears to filter whatevs it is that comes out of the hose (pcv?) that is connected to the top of my crank case cover where you pour your oil in, the that goes to where the carb and air filter is, caught on fire. Put it out easy enough, but now need a new one and no bloody idea where to start. Also i did the same thing where i pour fuel directly into carb, let truck run off that fuel, dies. Try to turn ignition right after, does the same loud bang type noise and i see smoke coming from the engine bay. Can anyone tell me what that noise could be, and also what that filter thing would be called so i can try and track one down.
When I buy a liter of ginger ale or other drink, that is a lot of fluid. If you are pouring that much fuel into the engine, that would explain why things are popping and catching fire.
It's obvious that you have a fuel supply problem. Pouring fuel into the engine over and over is not going to fix it. The first thing I would do is take the fuel line off the carb, stick a hose on it and put the end of the hose in a bucket. Crank it over and see if you get strong spurts of fuel into the bucket. If it doesn't, you know the fuel pump has a problem or the fuel pump can't bring the fuel from the tank for some reason.
If you do get strong spurts of fuel when cranking into the bucket, then most likely the carb is gunked up and will need a rebuild. You can thank the government and their ethanol fuel program for this.

Well, the popping sound (actually sounds more like something hitting metal maybe i’m not sure what comparison i could use to adequately describe it) happens after all the fuel from the carb has been used and the truck stalls from lack of fuel. Also something strange happened today, i sprayed into the carb with carb cleaner, then poured some gumout cleaner with high PEA% into it as well and then some of the premium shell gas i had that i use for my audi.(i also poured some into the crank) I fired it up, had to give it some pretty good revs, more than i generally like to but no worse than fast idle, i pop the cover off to look at my carb and theres oil all in there… must’ve came in from the pcv hose? but why and how does that even happen. https://imgur.com/a/zJNrW79
Why the He11 do you keep pouring stuff down the carb and now in the crank case?
I would bet the oil is full of gas and causing more issues than you started with.
Lets start at the beginning and see if we can get it to run with out pouring stuff down the carb.
We know its a 80 F150 with what motor & transmission?
What is the issue that it will not run off gas from the gas tank and dose it have more than 1 tank?
You may need to drain the oil and change the filter to get any gas that is in there out before running the motor for a long time.

Why why why are you pouring fuel into your crankcase, that's the entirely wrong thing to do.I like the idea of testing the fuel pump's output quantity & pressure, begin there. There is this stuff called blowby that leaks past the rings during the compression stroke, those gases make their way to the PCV breather and back into the intake stream. Pouring flammables into the crankcase is doing you no good whatsoever...
