First off I would like to say thank you to everyone on this forum. I had my 67 f100 for six months before covid started and I drove it as a daily which I really enjoyed. So once covid started and I didn't have to drive to work anymore i decided to fix all the issues my truck had. Like the floorboards, carpet, dash ,bench seat, cab mounts, exhaust leaks , brakes front and rear and all the suspension with the help of many of you of course.
well after all that hard work over about a year I had started driving it again to work.
So after my fourth day of using it I drove home parked it out on street since I had to clean up my garage and as I'm in garage putting away tools I hear a car rouring down the street (~65 or so on a 25) and as I turn to look boom right into the back of my truck. Needless to say I was devastated to see all my hard work go to waste because someone decided to drink and drive in the middle of the day.
I do have one more question though, I have various left over parts and also some I pulled of truck before insurance took it. Do I post them in this section or do I post in the marketplace ?
The hood and fenders were the same as bed someone just sprayed cheap spray paint over the top but I was able to sand it down to original color. Obviously I didn't get to finish This is the only picture I took during the whole process. Now that it's gone I really do regret not documenting it.
If you're looking for another one, I believe there are a few here in NM (Santa Fe area) for a reasonable price.
Ya I'm on hunt right now I know of a highboy that's in a neighboring town but it's a 68 or 69 I believe but either way I have to save up all over again.
I wonder if it would be worth buying it back from the insurance company and then just looking for a new frame and bed. Unless the cab is just twisted beyond trying to fix. You could get a lot of your parts back though. And try to keep the grill. It looks like it's still good. I know I want the grill if you're selling parts. HA!
wow, very sorry to hear about your truck. Very similar story as how I ended up with my 69 F100. The PO had done a number of things to get his back on the road and then decided to take it over to his cousins and left it for one day and a drunk plowed into the front of it trashing a really nice grill. His wasn't as bad as yours and is still fixable so I bought it and will be starting a build thread hopefully soon. Sorry you couldn't save it and hope you can find another one quickly.

Insurance already paid me out for it if I wanted to buy it back they wanted 2400 and I had bought the truck for 1500 so it wasn't really worth it. They did pay me out almost 7k though. Only reason I can buy one right away is because I had just bought an El Camino for my wife like 1 month before it happen and I said I would work on it for her so I'm going to work on that then buy one
That doesn't sound right with the insurance co. The totaled vehicles I have dealt with have been a 10% buy back.
Ya i thought something was up with the insurance as well because they first time they told me my buy out vs keep price it was only 538 difference and at that point I told them I would keep the truck. This was on a Thursday but then the following Monday they had called back saying they had made a mistake in the buy back value and that's when they hiked it up so that's why I decided to let them take it.
