Question torque convertor?

At the spot where the starter goes into the tranny, are the teeth inside on the torque convertor or the flywheel? If on convertor, where could i find one and how do i know what tranny i have to match the convertor up.

1975 f100
302 w/ auto.

it's the ring gear, or flywheel..it might improve the engines performance alot if u had it turned at a machine shop, I've heard it makes a huge difference

look up the VIN# and have ur tranny and axle codes as well. it will tell you what tranny it has

try here for VIN# ID

just get a heavy duty gear for your starter that'll save you some money and you won't have to replace the whole flex plate for a little while longer

There is usually wear on the ring gear at 4 points where the engine comes to rest with a V-8. As long as you have at least 50% of the teeth at those points left I would not replace the ring gear.

If you do go to replace just the flexplate. Get yourself some really long bell housing bolts. Remove two of the tranny bolts and put those in. then get your tranny jack all set up and remove the rest. Then you just roll the assembly back just far enough to change your flexplate. when your done the tranny is rolled back foreward and the long bolts keep your alighnment so the tranny goes right on
