M50DR2 neutral gear pins
I have a 1991 f150 xlt lariat, 4.9L m5odr2 manual transmission. 283k miles. Its stuck in 4th and wont go in neutral. Clutch, master and slave cylinders are good. Shift forks and rails good. Pulled the trans tunnel inside the cab, removed the top of transmission, dropped driveshaft. Spun the gears and found that one of the 3 pins in the neutral gear is being pushed up and the gear slider wont move past. Ive tried holding it down while pulling on the slider but no luck. Any suggestions help, unless the answer is rebuild it. Then I'll just sell it. Thank you

Sadly I believe this is a tear down thing. I hope somebody can prove different. While rebuilding mine, I ran into this a few times and had to take the set apart to get it right. That being said, Unless you are just simply done with the truck selling it seems a bit extreme. Yes, it is a bit of a pain to take out, open up and put back together, but it truly is not rocket surgery. It does seem a bit odd that it slid that far if the forks and rails look good.
