I picked up this OBD I code reader yesterday after finding it in a surplus section. Has anyone had any experience with this model?
It appears this unit is not much more than a flashing light, so not really different than using a jumper wire and counting CEL flashes. It did come with an instruction manual that describes test procedures and lists codes and their possible meaning. I am a little disappointed, but in the past I've paid more than $20 and gotten less, so hopefully the book will prove some value.
I have the Actron version of that code reader from years ago. It does nothing more than using the jumper method to count the code flashes. Good paper weight. The book usually has slick paper which does not work well for wiping your a**.
I have a Innova reader that is supposed to be able to do both, but it doesn't really work quite right. Works well with OBDII, and runs EEC-IV KOEO test just fine, but doesn't work right with KOER tests. Never tried any other EEC-IV test modes with it. I just use the 3145.
It is annoying having to use 2 readers, but I have found it to be best way forward without spending $200+.
Since it has the flashing light and not a digital code readout, I would probably never use it. It would be alright to keep it around, since it is better than not having one.

That is what I was kind of thinking it would be. Kind of like a microwave dishwasher in one.
I am sorry for your loss(of money) at this time of year(everybody on vacation)...but on a brighter note I shot fireworks, and they were pretty!
Things worked out, I took it to the store and got my money back. Found a good sale on magnetic parts trays, I always seem to never have enough of those. :-)
