Where's the PCM?

1993 F-150, 5.0 EFI AOD 2 wheel drive.

I need a number off the PCM to order a new one. AutoZone shows 4 different possiblities. Do I need to remove the emergency brake bracket and the large aluminum bracket?

Thank you,

Brian & Kathy

Where's the PCM?

First, disconnect the battery cable! You don't want to short out the old comuter or the new one.

Under the driver's side kick panel. You should only have to remove the screw at the back of PCM on the platic bracket that holds it to the truck.

Then go out under the hood and find the computer connector (on the driver's side of the firewall, under the brake unit close to the bottom of the firewall.) there is a 9mm or 10mm screw that holds this connector to the computer, once you remove that screw the connector should come off.
Then all you should have to do is remove the computer itself.

Hope this helps, I know what kind of a nightmare dealing with these computers can be.

Where's the PCM?

Thanks for the reply..... but I'm still having trouble. Is the "Kick Panel" the plastic piece that you would kick with the left side of your left foot? I found a block of wires up under the dash with F3TB 62679 AH for a number, but it merely looks like a large plug maybe 3" x 4 or 5".

Thanks again,

Brian

Where's the PCM?

I found it. It sets upright like a book on a bookshelf. It's behind the plastic trim piece. Thanks!

No Problem. I know how these computer controlled trucks are. Mine's really giving me fits right now! I'm about ready to scrap all of the fuel injection and get a good holley carburetor!
