P0069 code, Boost Gauge pegged, turbo flutter

Hi guys, hoping for some diagnostics help. I've been getting this P0069 code (manifold absolute pressure barometer pressure correlation) every week or so for a month, I reset it and it goes away for a bit. Today I noticed a power loss and the boost gauge was pegged around 40PSI. I also have a Banks IDASH and that was showing the proper boost, however only went up to about 14PSI which is where my power loss came from. I also noticed the engine break would not turn on. I stopped, cleared the pending P0069 code and everything was back to normal. Full power, boost gauge worked and engine brake worked. However now I'm noticing a flutter from the turbo when I give it some gas and let off while in Park. Not sure if this is new or related or normal but I don't remember hearing it before. Its sounds like the flutter in this video (not my video and mine is not as loud).

Truck is stock (other than a banks Derringer tuner) with 11,000 miles. 2019 6.7L F250 XLT.. Any ideas where to look first? I'd rather troubleshoot on my own rather than have the truck tied up at the dealer if its a simple sensor fix or something similar.

Thanks mebe2k. I actually did stumble upon some info on the MAF sensor, mine had some pretty good build up in it when I checked. I cleaned it with a q-tip but will replace it if things don't improve.

There is a MAF and MAP sensor. Without having all of the tools to be able to read data, this behavior with the boost gauge seems to be related the MAP sensor. I had to replace mine with similar boost gauge behavior along with performance issues (it sounded/felt like the VGT vanes were stuck closed). A lot of soot gets built up in the MAP sensor my guess from EGR.

Crap, I meant MAP sensor It was my MAP sensor that I found to have build up in. I'm hoping this fixes things, kinda bummed having a new truck not running right. So far its been good since the cleaning.

Just poking for info to see if the cause and fix is clear

i too have the idash/derringer/pedal monster.

started to get the same error code about manifold absolute correlation and googling around I found that this code pops up when there’s a difference between barometric and map of 2mh. I have 1mh difference according to my I dash.

I replaced the map and it still happens.

today being Tuesday, will probally put pm into stock and out the deringer in straight thru mode using dongle and disconnect the banks stuff from odbc. This way I can have a better idea where the problem is.

does anyone know if the barometric sensor is part of the maf sensor in air filter housing.

can the MAF be cleaned?

truck is a 2019 6.7 with 17500 miles on it.

thanks

I replaced the air filter which had less than 3000 miles on it and now the difference between MAF barometric and MAP is only a few tenths of a ng, but, I still get the error code and the turbo creeps to max on startup.

Ok

did a few turn offs, wait a few minutes, turn on, and now the pressures are pretty close and the turbo stop creeping up at idle.

So now the difference is .6 mh.

will have to drive it around to get a sense if this is the right direction.

It happened again so I disconnected all the banks stuff. Used the bypass dongle.

started up and drove the truck a few times…so far…gremlin is gone. Will do a few days with out the banks stuff then a few days with it. Will call banks if the later is the problem.

the deringer in the engine bay behind the coolant res is a pretty hot location .. 139f most of the time. May need to get some extensions so I can move it to a cooler location.

grrrrr

I have disconnected my derringer on my 17. I don’t even miss it now.
I did buy it used and run it a long time but just to many weird things going on.

Not bashing banks in anyway, just more comfortable if it was not in the loop anymore
for troubleshooting.

Yeah…don’t know if it’s the heat or moisture in connections….we did have a lot of rain lately and I probally have 8 hrs on the road while it was raining.

so if the gremlins don’t comeback with banks stuff off…will look into some electrolytic grease on the connections and maybe a small heat proof box for the detinger unit.

Just thinking out loud.

I struggled with this for about a year and a half. I’d get the 0069 code randomly (every few months) I’d then clean the MAP sensor and the problem would go away (I even bought the low soot MAP holder). But unfortunately the problem always came back (lose of power, codes, weird boost gauge pressures) and always got worse. About 6 months ago I finally disconnected every connector and checked and cleaned them all and reconnected everything. Haven’t had a problem since. I’m guessing it was a loose connection or moisture somewhere.

Sounds kind of like my problem. 2014 deleted tuned stock power. I have been chasing the over boost for over a year, I don't get a code but the Ford Tech thinks the tune is blocking it. I too have had the flutter but only very rarely. More often I get the over boost. Pegs the dash gauge but I have an Edge monitor and it also shows high boost number. That condition happens maybe 10% of the time I need a strong boost. I have replaced all the sensors except the Exhaust Backpressure sensor.. I checked it on the Edge data logging and it seems normal. My latest try is FORscan. I have the app and the dongle but I'm way over my head. You can find my very long thread somewhere near here if you want to see the outcome. I think either the VGT blades are staying open when they shouldn't or the waste gate is failing to open when it should. hope this helps you.
