Do I Need a Transmission?

Do I Need a Transmission?
I just bought a 1994 F-150 with a 5.0 and I drove it up the ramp onto the flatbed trailer without any issues. Then rolled it off 50 miles later, drove it into a slopped driveway without any issue. The next day I wanted to move it over one space in the driveway and couldn't get it to go forward in first or second gear. I noticed that the 4x4 light was lit up and it was in 4x4 high so I attempted to put it in 2 High or neutral. I could move the shifter without too much trouble but could not seem to get it to go forward in first or second gear no matter what I tried. 3rd, 4th, and reverse seemed to only work in 4x4 low. This is the best way I could explain it. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm not real familiar with the 4x4 F-150. Mine is a manual transmission.
Thanks in advance.

I suspect the t-case is not fully shifting into 2hi, transmissions and the like don't break while sitting in the drivewy but t-case linkages are a know problem on these trucks mainly due to lack of use.

That sounds like it might be worth giving it a little attention. I'll start with checking the fluid level and go from there. I've got an exhaust system to rebuild and a rough running 5.0 to deal with before I can go anywhere. Thanks for you input.
