I'll just add in response then. Bought my truck brand new in Dec 2015, the only time that I have needed to make a trip back to the dealer was for recalls and a check valve on the IWE that was fixed under warranty. Zero issues with the engine. 3.5 gen 1 EcoBoost with the updated timing chains a guides that were installed on factory engines beginning in May 2015. Currently at 58k miles. Spark plugs changed and a coolant flush at 50k miles.
2011 F-150 3.5L Eco. Plugs and one coil changed around 62K miles. All o2 sensors changed around 90K miles because one sensor went out, I just changed the rest. 95K, changed all plugs and coils, the two drive belts, trans and coolant flush.
The ecoboost is well known to be tough on plugs and o2 sensors and that's where the claim of higher maintenance is coming from.
