Remove name from credit cards
I work for Canadian Tire Financial Services, dealing with mastercard as a customer service rep. so this is what I deal with everyday.
Unless things are done drastically different where you live (and I dont see how since mastercard is international...visa and amex I can't speak on as I have no knowledge of how they work)
1) Can a supplementary card holder remove there name from the account? - Yes. There is no reason why you cant, if you can verify all your security information that is on the account, advising them that its not your account they can remove you. It's a fraud risk not to.
2) Can you be responsible for him racking up HIS cards where you are NOT the primary but the SUPPLEMENTARY? - No, technically speaking if you had the cards and he was primary and you were supp, you could rack up the cards to $XXXX.XX and then just not pay them, your credit bureau wouldn't be touched and his would be ruined (unless he paid the bills)
3) So does it really matter if your names on them? - Nope, all correspondence will goto him not you. I would contact the credit bureaus and tell them that you want to be contacted before anyone is allowed to issue credit in your name, in case he decides to sign YOU up as the PRIMARY cardholder to an account (or 10).
Again, this information is 100% accurate in Canada, where mastercard is issued by Canadian Tire, as I stated previously since MC is international...I assume it to be similar/same.
My appologies if your local laws differ and my information was useless.
Chado
thanks for the concern.. i've gotten out of the house 3yrs ago.. i'll try and call around to see if we have a "pro per" clinic.. the women's shelter here is of no help.. you have to be practically dying before the try to help you.. our legal aid society here (big island of hawaii) sucks too.. they never return a call!! i've tried a bunch of "free" services/clinics or "affordable" lawyers and they are of no help.. they always seem to give me the run-around.. how can you not give a person the divorce when he/she is not asking for anything?? oh well..
