Dual tank problem

Hello All,
I have a 1986 E350. My problem is that I switched to my rear tank and after a few minutes, it cut out. Now it won't switch back to the front tank. Where.are the valves and pumps for my model ?
Any help troubleshooting will be appreciated.

Look under the driver's door area on the frame. That is where the valve is on the trucks. What engine do you have?

I believe it is a gas 460ci.

That means you have the 6 port pollack valve. They fail on a regular basis.

Thanks,
I found one from AutoZone. Looks easy enough to swap.

Sometimes not. Unless they are selling something different now, they sell a universal type valve. Same exact valve by the same company that made them originally, but Ford had them custom made with a different wiring plug and different hose fittings. It will work as original, since it's the same valve, but it takes a little head scratching to get it mounted and the wiring and the lines hooked up.

Ok, new pinouts. Which wires are different ? I suspected a different layout when others were buying a hasness to rewire it at same time.
Thanks again for the priceless help.

Does the valve come with a plug and short pigtail? Or do you have to buy that separately? I have forgotten the pinout on the new valve. I think it has letters correct? Can you post a picture of the little diagram they give you?

Here's what came with the Fsv2. Mine has the toggle switch at lower left.

I have never seen a pin swap thread. The Ford plug won't plug into the universal valve plug in will it? Even if you do swap the pins? I thought they gave you a new plug with a short pigtail, or you have to buy that separately. Then you take the Ford plug and cut it out so you are left with bare Ford wires.

Ford red wire goes to terminal E

Ford Brown/white wire goes to terminal D

Ford yellow/white wire goes to B

Ford yellow/lightblue wire goes to C

Ford darkblue/yellow wire goes to A

I didn't think the Ford plug-in even fit the universal valve, even if you swapped the pins. I thought the new valve came with a new plug and short pigtail, or you bought it separately. Then you cut the Ford plug off, and then connect the Ford wires to the new valve pigtail wires.

Ford red wire goes to E

Ford brown/white wire goes to D

Ford yellow/lightblue wire goes to C

Ford yellow/white wire goes to B

Ford darkblue/yellow wire goes to A

After unwrapping the wires at the connector, I found they are all black..
I did find part no. F5TB-9F271-AA, and looks just like the one that's in it now. Tha connectors are the same also. Ports line up too.It states for diesel but lists all models thru Ranger. I didn't know Ranger had a diesel model.
Will this work for gas ? I'll still have to verify the voltages to each pin.

That's great to hear. I've got one on the way for Saturday. The pix show the same connector, I'm hoping it is wired same also.
You have been a huge help in my figuring it out.
Best wishes for you and yours.
