SO i am sitting here thinking, i've done a lot of work to this thing, most of you know this!
Just put new tires on stock rims, not even 500 miles on them yet, but they ride real nice and quite
new windshield last wednesday
just ordered a new IPR from Riff Raff, seems to be my trusty go to
Hope the new IPR will solve the warm idle oddities, cold idles great , good response on the skinny pedal, warm not so much
probably do new brakes in the next few days
really want to throw some gages on her, Egt, boost, fuel pressure, oil pressure would be my list
lets not spend all my pennies in one place, but suggestions would be nice
Edge Insight CTS3. Wouldn't be without mine. I like watching the oil temp and boost. I added EGT but honestly I have myself trained pretty good as to when I need to start glancing at that one and when I can ignore it, which is the vast majority of the time. Can add fuel pressure as well and might still do that later. The data it pulls right off the PCM is great though....ICP, IPR, FIPW, IAT, oil temp, voltage, etc. Great little diagnostic tool if you dont already have Torque pro or ForScan lite running on a phone or tablet.
Some new shocks wouldn't be a bad idea either. Did you have the front end alignment checked when the new tires went on? That's when I figured out the original ball joints were dead on mine.

One of the 1st things i did when i got the truck 2 years ago was rebuild the front end, it had new tires on it then, had alignment done and has been checked sine then, old tire wore very even although only got about 30 k our of them
Put new ranchos on at that time as well, but have been considering bilsteins all around
I have forscan on my laptop/tablet, also have my hydra , after reading the details, it's basically forscan in a self contained box! Hmmm and the ability to add other probes down the line

Would this be low pressure oil? I've been considering that one ever since SSJ helped his friend in the 7.3 Down thread. Might be good to know this value as the LPOP wears, to see when it's time to replace, like we do for fuel pressure.
Just a warning. Add ons for the CTS get expensive quick. I have the old CTS1 and decided on a stand alone fuel pressure gauge instead of adding it to the CTS. Takes both a pressure sensor and a special kit to add it.
But overall I really like the CTS. Someday I may even upgrade to a newer (current century) version.

Although the rebuild on the IPr helped is was short lived, seems to me that i am getting someone the same issues i had before, that's why i am replacing it! Oil pressure gauge would help me i believe

I agree Jeff it would be interesting to see Oil Pressure during operation

yea i see that 400.00 for the cts, then ad this probe and that probe $$$$$
Price all 3 or 4 of the good analog gauges everybody gets like Isspro plus the pods and all the extras and it gets into similar money range pretty fast, and you still don't get all the other sensor readings in a neat little package. Forscan on the laptop is fine for diagnostic purposes but not real handy or neat for easy daily use. (I've used it as well a few times.) The other nice thing about the CTS is that it plugs right into the OBD port and sticks to the corner of the windshield. No fussy installation or mutilation of the a-pillar trim and no tapping or disturbing of the OEM wiring under the dash which made me happy for one. The EGT sensor did require a little fussing but Riff-Raff can sell you the exact size drill bit and tap kit. One little gotcha with that is that the passthru hole in the firewall has to be enlarged a tiny bit to fit the cord connecting end through it, which I didn't like but small detail.
It would have been one of the first things I bought for the truck TBH if I'd have known better.
LPOP pressure would be cool to watch but that's another one the stock truck has no sensor for and I have no idea where where you'd add one. If there is an existing port than can be used somewhere, sure.

I run an elbow from hpop reservoir and then a 100psi sensor that I can move plug from boost sensor to if I so desire to check. Usually I then remove the sensor from elbow and use a plug if I do not think I will need to monitor lpop pressure for while.

I'm a truck driver, not a rocket scientist but wouldn't monitoring HPOP pressure accomplish both ?
At idle , my HPOP gauge ( which gets Info from ICP ) reads about 550 at idle and then responds according to my foot stomping ability. I would guess if my LPOP was going bad, I would know from the gauge. I could be entirely wrong on this, but I'm sure someone will correct me.

That is a great point, out of the box it will work for many things, my manifold is already tapped for a pyro, would just need to wire it up
i am thinking.....
