Just picked up a 1997 F-250 heavy duty. Has the 5.8l auto 2wd. Appears the trans solenoid pack is shot. Codes are 622,629,626 so the solenoid pack needs to be replaced. Truck had been sitting for 3-4 years or more. Runs great just shifts like crap.
My question is what solenoid pack is currently available and which one is the best for the money? What's recommended?? I did start the same thread in the transmission section but got no where.
Very common to find the wires to the solenoid pack connector are exposed/compromised. Look on the passenger side of the transmission. Usually there is a heat shield blocking the view. Start there before thinking about installing new parts. The only way to go, if required, is a real Ford solenoid pack.
Checked plug and it looks just fine.Figured Ford parts would out of the question with the age of vehicle. Will check the local dealers and see what's up. Thought there might be a better, upgraded aftermarket one available.
I would have guessed ecm or at least harness issues because a lot of codes that are only related to each other and no other codes can be the sign of a failed driver in the computer for that section and ecm issues aren’t exactly rare of these trucks
