I am looking into ordering an F350 CC DRW. I’ll need it in about 6 months and according to local Ford dealer that’s about how Kong it would take for the order to fill. Plan is to use the truck for medium load trailer hauling (say 20 ft motorcycle trailer), driving interstates long distance. Engine choice is 6.7 diesel 2WD, what rear end to chose and what other options to check off for the intended purpose?
Ford.com allows configuration for 2021 YM. Should I order truck now or wait for 2022 to become available?
like said above the ordering of 2021 is closed. all new orders are for 2022. order now and you "should" have it in 6 months or less. as for rear-end, if all your towing is a 20' box trailer with a motorcycle in it you will be fine with anything.

As stated, no more 21's.
I placed my order for my 2022 F250 on 06/14 and have a build week schedule of 08/02, which should get it to me by end of August first of september.
Length of order right now depends on your specs and trim level.
And, the ordering situation should continue to get better.
If you don't need the truck until Christmas, then I'd say ordering late september should be plenty early enough.
As to what you need to tow the trailer in question, a F250 would probably do, F250 with high capacity trailer tow for sure would be enough, or a SRW F350.
3.31 or 3.55 gears.
If you want duals the tallest gears you will be able to get are 3.55s. If you decide to go SRW you will be better off with 3.31 gears. A 20 foot motorcycle trailer will be a very light load for new one ton diesel.
I’m in Cali but the plan to move to Florida. Will be traversing back and forth between coasts. 3.55 LSD is my choice for a more favorable mpg. F350 DRW maybe an overkill but that’s my preference especially if I’m ordering the truck vs buying what’s on the market. Down the road I may pull a larger trailer but mainly it will still be motorcycle hauling.
wondering what other suspension and towing options I should be looking at.
A 6.7 with any available gears will pull that trailer without any issues. You won't even know it's there...... Curious why a dually, unless you plan on getting a camper or larger toy hauler?
Just giving some feedback here, I placed my order yesterday and was told that if I wanted I could place order for a 21, I decided to
go with 22. Unless I heard wrong I’m pretty sure that was an option.

My '96 was extremely stable, miss that. Choosing dually so I can keep my options open, never know what I may decide to haul in the future. I plan on keeping this truck for a very long time (hopefully it will be as close to bulletproof as the OBS).
Ordering for 21MY ended months ago. They might be able to find a similar stock order for you and they are building 2021s for the next couple weeks. It wont' be a custom retail order though.
As per internet manager @ Vista Ford, 2021 m.y. is still available for order, he recommended I go that route to save $$ as the 2022 will be more expensive. However, I have doubts that with 6 months backlog I could still order a 2021 as late as June...
