I am going to retrieve my '76 F250 Supercab from California in about a month, it needs some cosmetics. The only recurring issue I have had with it mechanically in the 20 years I have owned it is with the Motorcraft carb. It is my understanding it is a spread bore with square bore carb bolt pattern. I would like to replace it with a Holley spread bore, vac secs, electric choke (if I remember, a 6175, 650 cfm).
Does anyone know if an adapter is made to match the spreadbore to the Motorcraft square bore bolt pattern? And if so, what are the drawbacks of using such adapter(it seems to me I've heard there are some),
Its a stock 460, headers the only mod. Its my understanding the stock manifold is actually equal to or better than an aftermaket up to around 3000 rpm, which would be in my typical driving range, so I would prefer to go with the stocker intake.
EDIT; found a thread mentioning an adapter from Summit that sounds like it might work for my issue.
